Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Devices Market Analysis, Size, Trends | Japan | 2012-2018 | MedSuite

The Japanese gastrointestinal endoscopic device market includes gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopes, biopsy forceps, enteral feeding devices, hemostasis devices and other equipment used during gastrointestinal procedures. GI endoscopy is a relatively non-invasive procedure used to diagnose and treat abnormalities and diseases in the digestive tract. The primary instrument of GI endoscopy is a flexible fiber optic endoscope. Depending on the procedure, other instruments will also be used in conjunction with the GI endoscope. These instruments are passed through the working channel of the endoscope and are manipulated by the physician from outside the body. GI procedures can be segmented into upper GI and lower GI procedures, depending on which extremity of the body is being used to access the GI tract. An upper GI procedure is carried out through the mouth, where as a lower GI procedure is carried out through the rectum. Preparations for a GI endoscopic examination include the use of local anesthetics, laxatives or intake of special solutions. GI endoscopic procedures can be performed in a variety of different environments, ranging from in-house care to clinics and hospitals. They can also be performed on an in-patient or out-patient basis. Due to the preparation required prior to carrying out a GI endoscopy, more than one procedure is often performed concurrently. There is also a great deal of overlap between GI procedures and devices.

Neurological Devices Market Analysis, Size, Trends | Japan | 2013-2019 | MedSuite

Over the past several years, there has been a transition in interventional neuroradiology from surgical to endovascular techniques. This has caused a conversion from aneurysm clipping to endovascular coiling. Research has supported a shift toward treatment of acutely ruptured intracranial aneurysms by endovascular occlusion. There have been many contentious issues pertaining to treatment recommendations for endovascular coiling that include treatment timing, the incidence of procedural complications, anatomical cure rates and recurrence. Coils are used to treat aneurysms and fistulas in the brain in order to prevent rupture. The coil helps stop the flow of blood into the aneurysm sac, thereby reducing the likelihood of the aneurysm rupturing.

Interventional Cardiology Market Analysis, Size, Trends | Brazil | 2013-2019 | MedSuite

Interventional cardiology is a minimally invasive technique that uses catheters to treat coronary artery disease, which is one of the leading causes of death in many countries throughout the world. The most common interventional cardiology procedure is percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA), which is performed for the management of coronary atherosclerosis.

There are many different types of complementary devices used during interventional cardiology procedures. These devices include: coronary stents, PTCA & cutting balloon catheters, balloon-inflation devices, angioplasty accessory kits, interventional coronary catheters and guidewires, coronary introducer sheaths, coronary vascular closure devices and diagnostic coronary catheters and guidewires. The field of interventional cardiology has additional devices that are prevalent in other countries, but are not yet market factors in Brazil.

Large Joint Devices Market Analysis, Size, Trends | Brazil | 2013-2019 | MedSuite

The orthopedic large joint reconstruction device market includes hip reconstruction devices, knee reconstruction devices and bone cements used to help adhere the implants to bone. Large joint arthroplasty experienced a continued increase in demand in 2012, attributed to the aging Brazilian population and an increased number of patients able to afford these procedures. Procedure growth will rise over the forecast period as older patients are no longer able to postpone elective joint replacement. Hip reconstruction market growth will continue to outpace knee reconstruction market growth throughout the forecast period. Both the knee and hip markets experienced a steep increase in growth in 2012, as more orthopedic products continued to be introduced into Brazil. Unit volumes will continue to grow steadily over the forecast period due to the growing demand for arthroplasty.

Small Bone and Joint Devices Market Analysis, Size, Trends | Brazil | 2013-2019 | MedSuite

The Brazilian small bone & joint orthopedic market is comprised of the shoulder reconstruction, elbow repair, hand & wrist devices and foot & ankle devices market segments. This market is separate from the large joint and trauma markets, although the distinction is sometimes unclear. As a result, defining small joint devices can be challenging. Similar to large joints, many of the small joint devices are involved in elective procedures, and consequently these devices generally command higher selling prices. Conversely, the small joint device market is also similar to the trauma device market, where devices may not have high prices or significant price growth, but are involved in essential surgery and are always in demand. Small joints such as shoulders, elbows, hands and feet have not received as much attention as hip and knee treatments until recently, but have experienced strong and consistent growth because of the clinically underserved areas that they represent.

Endoscopic and Surgical Devices Market Report Suite | Canada | 2013-2019 | MedSuite

The Canadian market for endoscopic and surgical devices includes endoscopes and devices from the GI endoscopy, urology, gynecology, bronchoscopy, ENT, laparoscopy, video, high-tech, automated endoscope reprocessor and electrosurgical device reprocessor markets.

Endoscopy is a minimally invasive diagnostic procedure that is used to assess the interior of the body by inserting a tube into the body. Endoscopes can be rigid or flexible, depending on the procedure they are required for, and not only provide images for inspection, but also have operating channels through which instruments can be inserted to take biopsies or perform procedures. Sedation and anesthesia are common for endoscopic procedures, but not required.

Endoscopic procedures can be performed in a variety of different environments; from walk-in clinics where mild or no anesthesia is used, to integrated operating rooms, where full sedation is used and more complex procedures are performed.

A traditional endoscope system is composed of four main components: a rigid or flexible tube which houses the rest of the components, a lens system which transmits the image to the viewer from the fiberscope, a light delivery system which transmits light via optical fibers from an outside source to illuminate the organ and operating area, and finally, an additional medical channel through which instruments are passed to be used during the procedure.

Wound Care Market Analysis, Size, Trends | Brazil | 2013-2019 | MedSuite

Wound and tissue management includes devices that treat wounds to the skin, dermal layer and adjacent subcutaneous tissues as well as devices that manage trauma to tissue and blood vessels during surgery. Wound management devices treat external wounds; while dressings and negative pressure wound therapy aid the body’s innate ability to heal skin wounds, surgical wounds and chronic wounds. Devices used for tissue management help to stop bleeding, close surgical incision and prevent scarring and adhesion of internal tissue. Wound closure devices hold tissue together so the body can develop scar tissue. Wound and tissue management products and devices are essential in an early or later phase for the proper healing of tissue and wounds.

Trauma Devices Market Report Suite | Brazil | 2013-2019 | MedSuite

The Brazilian orthopedic trauma device market includes plates and screws, intramedullary nails, hip intramedullary nails, compression hip screws, cannulated screws and external fixation devices. All of these segments experienced positive growth in 2011, as the aging population and the high number of motor vehicle accidents in Brazil continued to drive demand. The overall market is largely divided in terms of pricing set by the public SUS system and prices influenced by private insurance companies. The ASPs of products purchased through public healthcare are stable; however, there has been a gradual decline in ASPs in the private healthcare sector. Overall, the strong positive growth in all segments will allow the entire market to grow rapidly over the 2011–2018 forecast period.
