Product Description

In 2021, the U.S. computer-guided surgery market size is projected to reach $40.5 million, with the surgical guide market showing the fastest growth. The total U.S. market size is expected to grow over the forecast period to exceed $68 million in 2027.

In the U.S, the target market for treatment planning software and surgical guides were general practitioners (GPs). However, in recent years, specialists have been purchasing treatment planning software and using surgical guides as a means of standardization. Originally, specialists focused on purchasing a small number of surgical guides to cater to their complex cases. However, now that surgical guides are more affordable, they are being used for a greater number of cases, even for specialists.

The U.S. market for treatment planning software is limited by third-party labs and software companies that provide the market with full-service outsourcing of the planning and surgical guide production, as opposed to investing in their own software. However, because GPs are placing more and more implants, investment in their own software is now more attractive.

Computer-Guided Surgery Market Share Insights

Within the U.S. computer-guided surgery markets, Dentsply Sirona, Anatomage, and Envista are the market leaders.

Dentsply Sirona leads the U.S. market for both surgical guides and treatment planning software. Following the merger between Dentsply International and Sirona Dental Systems in 2016, the resulting company has experienced significant growth in digital dentistry and related spaces. Both companies offered surgical guide products under the SIMPLANT®, SICAT®, and CEREC® brands. Dentsply Sirona continues to offer SIMPLANT® as the guided surgery product in its portfolio.

Anatomage is the second-leading company in the U.S. surgical guide market. The company offers a completely digital process for its guided surgery production. Unlike many of its competitors, Anatomage offers a flat fee per production, regardless of the number of implant sites involved.

On the other hand, Envista is the second-leading competitor in the U.S. treatment planning software market. Like Dentsply Sirona, Envista is a provider of premium implants. Its strong position in the dental implant market helped to drive sales of its treatment planning software, including its NobelClinican™ product line.
