Catheter Securement Market Trends

Unit demand for catheter securement products is fundamentally tied to catheter insertion volumes and underlying patient demographics. The widespread use of intravenous therapy across inpatient settings supports a large and recurring demand base for securement solutions. As populations age and the prevalence of chronic conditions rises, overall catheter utilization is expected to increase, sustaining growth in securement device unit sales even in the absence of rapid price expansion.
Catheter Securement Market Share Insights

- Solventum, in 2025, emerged as the leading company in catheter securement following its spin-off from 3M in April 2024. The company held the dominant share for the dressing market, especially with its Tegaderm™ line. Products such as the Tegaderm™ CHG antimicrobial dressing strengthen its market position, though sold at a premium. Solventum also offers Medipore™ dressings, widely used for IV securement and wound care, and has a presence in manufactured securement devices through its PICC/CVC Securement Device + Tegaderm series, which holds a modest but notable share of the MCSD market.
- Becton Dickinson (BD) stood out as the major competitor in the manufactured catheter securement market, particularly with its StatLock® line of products acquired in 2006. BD’s stronghold in PICC, chronic central venous catheter (CVC) and midline catheter markets enabled it to dominate the manufactured catheter securement landscape, both independently and within catheter kits. However, competition and hesitance from competitors to directly purchase from BD resulted in some erosion of BD’s market share, though StatLock® remained the dominant player.
- Smith & Nephew held a significant share in the dressings market, catering to catheter securement and other needs. Its IV3000® dressings were used for IV site care, available in various sizes for securement of peripheral and central lines. The IV3000® 1-Hand Delivery offered easy application, and the company also provided HYPAFIX® tape for PIVC securement.
