Product Description

In 2019, the European cone beam computed tomography market size was valued at €165 million, with the large FOV CBCT market showing the fastest growth. With the emergence of CBCT technology, the CBCT scanner market has experienced rapid growth as the applications have expanded beyond 3D reconstructions of a patient’s facial structure to include pan/ceph imaging capabilities. This has resulted in a general shift away from panoramic/cephalometric systems, as specialists such as orthodontists and GPs performing minor oral surgeries have invested in CBCT scanners.

The market for cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scanners has been present in Europe since the early 2000s. CBCT scanners operate with an X-ray scanner that is mounted on a rotating arm that circles a patient’s head. As it rotates, the scanner uses a cone-shaped X-ray beam that is projected through the patient and onto the imaging sensor. This enables a three-dimensional reconstruction of the bone structure of the patient’s face and jaw.
