South Carolina-Based DeGen Medical, has recently entered the pedicle screw market with the FDA clearance of their latest device. The F1 MPS System for JOUST minimally invasive surgical procedure provides surgeons the capability to place pedicle screws, while reducing the muscle being stripped. This results in less scar tissue and reduced muscle damage for the patient, improving the quality of care

iData research has found that the MIS pedicle screw market is growing within the fusion market and, as a result, whatever drives the total fusion market also drives the MIS fusion market. This includes the expansion of the target patient demographic. Those aged 65 and older are the fastest-growing demographic in the United States. The potential increase in demand may drive the sales volume of MIS pedicle screws like DeGen Medicals JOUST.

The JOUST MIS technology encompasses MIS towers for percutaneous screw placement and can be done either in a traditional or cortical approach. As well, the rod reduction is built in the tower. The full system will be available in Q4 of 2019.
