Pentax launches IMAGINA LED Powered Endoscopy System for ambulatory surgery centers in the U.S. after winning FDA clearance.

The LEDs mounted on the tip do not require regular replacement eliminating the need for expensive replacement bulbs. The ultra-bright in conjunction with the real-time integrated i-SCAN Image Enhancement system allows for a high-resolution image of mucosal surface tissue and blood vessels.

“The launch of the IMAGINA allows us to best serve the needs of the core GI market and our system provides maximum cost predictability without compromising on the standard of care delivered to patients. IMAGINA eliminates the costliest components of a premium GI endoscopy system and still adheres to the highest imaging standards in the industry: a true testament to our commitment to better patient outcomes, improved patient experience and a lower overall cost of care.”

– David Woods, President and CEO of PENTAX Medical

In iData’s latest study on the Gastrointestinal Endoscopes Market, the U.S. endoscopic device market was found to be valued at just over $2.9 billion in 2018. The market value is expected to increase at a CAGR of 3.5% to exceed $3.7 billion by 2025. This growth can be attributed to the growing prevalence of GI-related conditions, a rapidly increasing elderly population and tremendous growth in the adoption of colorectal cancer screening programs.
