Welch Allyn, a manufacturer of diagnostic products and medical devices, has announced plans to further expand its presence in the growing Indian healthcare market.
Though the US-based company’s products have been distributed in India for the last 30 years, the company has decided to consolidate its presence in the country by bringing all distribution and marketing channels together under a single entity. Welch Allyn has chosen Garuda Med Equipments as its exclusive marketing and distribution partner in India and plans to target the primary healthcare centers, smaller hospitals, medical practitioners and rural areas in general. Garuda Med Equipments will also work with doctors in India to promote Welch Allyn’s PC-based electrocardiogram (ECG) device. The device connects to a computer and allows doctors in any part of the world to record the patient’s ECG images and then send them to a cardiologist via the Internet. This is especially useful for patients in rural areas who are unable to travel for medical care.
The world-wide revenues of Welch Allyn, a privately-held family business, are estimated to be $700 million.
