The Straumann Group, a global leader in tooth replacement and orthodontic solutions, recently announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire Same Day Solutions (SDS), a dental distribution company based in Lisbon that markets and sells competitor dental implants, biomaterials and whitening products in Portugal. SDS is also the local distributor for milling machines made by Straumann’s partner Amann Girrbach.
Founded in 2004, SDS is a privately held family company with 20 employees supplying large and small dental clinics and laboratories across the country. According to Straumann, with its values of excellence, innovation and quality, SDS has built a strong reputation and has delivered profitable growth since its creation. It serves a solid, active customer base and has established an important position in the value segment of the Portuguese dental implant market.
The acquisition gives Straumann access to SDS’s customers, who in turn will benefit from a broader product portfolio. In addition, the SDS team is to add sales power and support to the group’s operations in Portugal. Having been present in the country since 1999, the Straumann Group has established an important market position through both its Straumann and Neodent brands.
With a broader footprint and a stronger local presence in the dental implant market in Portugal, the group aims to realise growth potential with SDS and to create opportunities for its digital and orthodontics businesses.
The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of March 2018. Financial details were not disclosed.
SDS will now belong to the global and international brands united by the Straumann Group, which include Straumann, Instradent, Neodent, Medentika, etkon iDent, ClearCorrect, Dental Wings, and other fully and partly owned companies and partners.
