Bard. The second request is not surprising given the size of the merger and the diverse business lines that must looked at, nor are there particularly serious concerns, antitrust sources told CTFN, adding that any necessary divestitures are expected to be minimal.

“This is a highly complementary merger, vertical in nature, with little overlap,” said an antitrust attorney who has worked on a number of medical products deals. The horizontal overlap “is completely de minimis compared to the deal’s huge market shares,” the attorney said. “Still, small markets are still markets.”
