Digital radiography X-rays are the largest segment, due to their increasing prevalence and popularity; many healthcare facilities prefer digital systems for their increased efficiency and image quality. While analog systems will continue to be sold at nominal levels over the forecast period, they will experience a rapid decline, almost disappearing from the market completely. Healthcare facilities are no longer purchasing analog systems. Even computed radiography is being gradually phased out due to rapid technological advancements in digital radiography. Digital systems offer faster scan times and produce digital images that are much easier to store than film-based images.
The aging population will drive the cardiovascular X-ray segment, as this demographic is more likely to be diagnosed with conditions that require cardiac X-rays. Furthermore, despite lower unit sales of cardiovascular X-rays, this segment will maintain a sizeable share of the total market due to its higher ASP.
