The PVA market will increase at a significantly higher CAGR than that of the vertebroplasty market. This is due to the PVA segment’s much higher projected sales growth compared with vertebroplasty. As prices experience a faster decline in this segment, the PVA market is expected to increase slightly in its share of the total VCF market over the forecast period.

A vertebral compression fracture (VCF) occurs when the bone tissue of the vertebral body collapses in the spine. There are various causes of VCFs, but the most common is osteoporosis. Typically, the lumbar region of the spine is affected, resulting in the anterior section of the vertebral body collapsing. This can cause the spine to tilt forward. In multi-level cases, kyphosis (hunchback of the spine) can result from a VCF. In addition, VCFs can result from malignancy, infection or trauma to the spine.
