Otolaryngologists often have a stricter budget compared to spinal surgeons and neurosurgeons. This creates incentive for companies to provide more affordable portable and compact systems, which leads to a lower ASP than in other segments. ENT navigation procedures can also be performed on most systems with neurosurgical, spinal, and orthopedic applications
There are two options offered for ENT navigation systems. Optical navigation systems have the benefit of being highly precise and do not require a cable to be attached to the surgical instrument. These systems are designed for procedures that require major access paths along with high precision, such as procedures on the lateral skull base. They can also be used with conventional active and passive surgical instruments if a universal adaptor is added; however, there must be a free line of sight towards the operating area.
