In 2019, the U.S. dental microscope market size was valued at $34 million. The U.S. market size is expected to grow over the forecast period and reach over $50 million in 2024.

The dental microscope market in the past has had minimal penetration, with approximately 10% of dental offices in the U.S. using these devices until recently, the majority of which were endodontists. However, the uptake of the microscope into general dental practices has greatly increased, due to general dentists expanding their practices to include endodontic work and the increasing adoption of dental microscopes by dental schools in the training of general dentists. It is estimated that sales of microscopes to dental schools have increased at a rate of 15% per year over the last four years. This has led to an increase in the number of practicing dentists who are familiar with this technology.

Dental microscopes are used to magnify dentists’ vision while performing treatments. Microscopes allow practitioners to perform procedures more accurately and with greater precision. Due to this increased
visibility, microscopes expand the diagnostic options available to dentists and, therefore, make treatment results more predictable. Dental microscopes are mounted to the ceiling or adjacent walls, or they can be
used as stand-alone units on a trolley.
