Many of the same companies operating in Germany were also present in Austria. Numerous lower priced competitors were successful during the economic recession in 2009 and were able to capture comparatively significant market share, as some dentists switched to lower priced products to compensate for dwindling profit margins. However, the shift towards lower priced dental implants only had a slight impact on sales of regional premium-priced players. Dentists continued to seek the security and guarantee of service that more established premium companies were better equipped to offer. Following the economic recovery in late 2009, the Austrian dental implant market will recapture similar double-digit growth.
