U.S. surgical robotics market Set to Diversify and Grow
In 2014, less than half of the value of the minimally invasive surgery (MIS) robotic device market, of which Intuitive Surgical’s ‘da Vinci’ holds a monopoly, has come from unit sales. By 2020, that percentage of value will be closer to 20%.
According to a recent report by iData Research (www.idataresearch.com), those companies looking to break into the surgical robotics market may find significant opportunities in other medical specialties, other than the MIS field dominated by Intuitive. These companies are expected to capture almost one-third of the U.S. surgical robotics market by 2020.
