What the pyramids and the colposcope market have in common: Very mature and very stable.
Colposcopes are essentially large electric gynecological microscopes with a light source and varying levels of detail.
They are devices used for visually examining the cervix, vaginal wall and vulva in a medical procedure called colposcopy. When abnormalities are found with a Pap smear, colposcopy is performed to more accurately detect premalignant and malignant lesions. The results of this procedure may show evidence of dysplasia, cancer, HPV or atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASCUS).
Okay, so what exactly does the EU market look like?
Mostly replacement sales. That said, there are significant variations across various European countries in terms of market growth. If you’re supplying the Scandinavia and Benelux market with lower-end systems, you’re in luck. Here, cost-effective purchases are still of the highest priority.
