It’s the last day of AAOS 2015, and we’ve had a great time in Vegas! To close out the show, FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A., Inc., and FUJIFILM SonoSite.Inc., presented their latest and most innovative digital radiography detectors, the FDR D-EVO II and their high-resolution ultrasound kiosk, the X-Porte®.

“Fujifilm works closely with our users and orthopaedic surgeons to develop innovative image capture and processing solutions,” said Eddie Massetti, manager, Distributor & OEM Sales at FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A., Inc. “Orthopaedic surgeons will immediately recognize the exceptional visualization and efficiencies our innovations bring to their diagnostic needs.”

The new FDR-DEVO II detectors are completely redesigned with new and improved features like IPX6 water resistance, improved battery life, improved dose efficiency, and a new internal memory function which can store up to 100 images. They are 20% lighter than their predecessors making it one of the world’s lightest radiography detectors. The detector is now housed in an antibacterial silver ion coating that provides more protection from spreading infections and disease.

They also presented their X-Porte® ultrasound transducer for musculoskeletal exams and injections. Their new design minimizes side-lobe imaging artifacts through SonoSite’s proprietary Extreme Definition Imaging™ (XDI) which significantly reduces visual clutter from side-lobes that affect all ultrasound products. The resulting ultrasound image appears cleaner with optimal tissue differentiation.

“Orthopedic surgeons are discovering the value of ultrasound visualization for assessing injury and function, as well as for improving the accuracy of interventional procedures,” said Daniel Shelton, director, MSK Market Development at FUJIFILM SonoSite, Inc. “Healthcare professionals know that early information can lead to faster recovery. That’s why progressive orthopedic surgeons use Fujifilm’s point-of-care ultrasound and advanced needle visualization technology to aid in quicker diagnostics and on-target accuracy.”
